It's not easy walking the "narrow path."
I fall off from that path more than I'd like to admit.
I don't know if you struggle like me, but the faith walk is full of ups and downs.
I'm going to share what I think is the most difficult thing about being a Christian.
THE MOST DIFFICULT THING ABOUT BEING A CHRISTIAN!
WALKING IN FAITH
Walking in faith forces you to trust God.
Faith is the expectation that God is going to move on your behalf, even if you have no evidence.
Let's look at a famous example of Abraham and Sarah.
Abraham and Sarah were well beyond child-bearing years.
But God told them they would have a child.
This was not easy to understand.
Yet, we know that Abraham was called the "Father of Faith."
Abraham's real recourse was to trust God, despite the circumstances.
And even Abraham tried to bring God's will to fruition by using Sarah's maid, Hagar.
We look further in Genesis to see Abraham's faith tested even more.
God instructed Abraham to sacrifice his son.
At the last possible moment, God provided a ram so that Abraham didn't have to sacrifice his son, Isaac.
God tests our faith.
He does this for two different reasons in my opinion.
First, our faith makes us trust God.
If we could "save" ourselves, there would be no need for a messiah.
Faith also makes us surrender to God.
Surrendering to God opens us up for His use.
Letting go of control is not easy but necessary.
God blinded Paul on the road to Damascus, making him totally dependent.
Paul, who persecuted Christians, yielded to God's will and became arguably the greatest evangelist of the Christian faith.
Faith makes us trust in God and surrender allows us power to do His will.
So, that is tough.
Trusting in God while having no evidence of victory is difficult.
But we know that we can't please God without walking in faith.
