The Bible is our lifeline.
It is our living connection to God.
So, it is important for us to study God's Word to build that connection.
If we look at the Bible, 2 Timothy 2:15 (NLT) tells us to study the bible.
"Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth."
According to this verse, when we study God's word, several things happen.
- We present ourselves to God
- We receive His approval
- Studying God's Word removes shame
- We correctly share the hope in us with others
In this blog post, I will share with you simple 8 tips to help making studying the Bible easier.
Studying the Word allows us to live an easier life and keeps us from being swayed by false truths.
Let's learn and study God's Word..
8 SIMPLE TIPS TO MAKE STUDYING THE BIBLE EASIER
Here are 8 Simple Tips To Make Studying The Bible Easier.
1) PICK A VERSION THAT IS EASIER TO READ.
Let's be honest.
The King James Version isn't an easy read at times.
I suggest is picking a translation that you can easier read and identify with.
I recommend the New Living Translation.
2) STUDY A CHARACTER
Studying a character makes things easier for you.
This is easier because it allows you to narrow your focus on a particular person.
Studying someone like Paul, Ruth, or David will allow you to see yourself within their lives, etc.
3) START WITH THE GOSPELS OR NEW TESTAMENT
This is advice that came from someone I know that has studied the Bible deeply.
He suggested that I start with the Gospel of John, as it examines Jesus as the Son Of God.
After taking that advice, I think it is a good place to start.
Starting with the gospels allow you to see the life of Jesus unfold.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with starting from Genesis if you want.
4) GET A BIBLICAL STUDY AID OR GUIDE
The Bible is like any other book.
You need context.
This means you need to be aware of the region, the kinds of people living there, and the type of people that are relative to a certain time mentioned in the Bible.
It is a good practice to get a Bible dictionary, a concordance, or other guide to help you properly analyze the Word of God.
5) PRAY BEFORE READING THE BIBLE
Prayer helps us to remove ourselves out of the way and allows God to work through us.
Prayer helps us to open up our hearts to receive what God is saying.
Make sure your heart is open and ready to receive of God's Word.
6) WRITE DOWN NOTES
Write down notes from what you read and what you study.
This is something I do personally and it helps to bring the Word Of God to life.
Writing down your thoughts and examining them helps to take your spiritual walk to the next level.
7) SEEK TO GROW, NOT JUST TO READ
Sometimes, as Christians, we can go through the motions.
We get into the habit of just praying, attending church, Bible study, or listening to gospel music to "check off the box."
Don't go through the motions of just trying to do the "Christian" thing.
Make sure your heart is in it with God.
Read and study God's Word in order to grow, not just to get it over with.
8) SET A TIME YOU CAN HAVE TO READ AND STUDY
The modern life is busy.
And we can get burdened with caring for our families, children, bills, jobs, and other responsibilities.
But the most important thing we can do (besides salvation) is to study God's Word.
Set aside time, if only for a few minutes, to seek God out and His Word.
